SUMMARY:History Slam 2022
DESCRIPTION:Are you interested local history or do you know someone who is?
The Monterey Public Library\, in partnership with the Western Flyer
Foundation and the Cannery Row Company is excited to invite all historians
and history buffs to the Third Annual History Slam on May 7\, 2022.\n\nThis
year is an exciting year as we are eagerly preparing for the return of the
Western Flyer\, the boat that John Steinbeck and Ed Ricketts chartered for
their journey to the Sea of Cortez in 1940. In 2015\, our community
partner\, Western Flyer Foundation\, acquired the Western Flyer and has
been working on its restoration. In late summer\, the Flyer will make its
way down the coast from Port Townsend\, Washington to Monterey\,
California!\n\nTo build connections with local libraries\, historic
societies\, and communities in anticipation of the Flyer’s arrival\, we
are inviting community members to participate in our third annual History
Slam! Participating community members will have an opportunity to share
their community’s local history\, while learning about other communities
along the West Coast.\n\nFor general information and questions\, please
 contact Sean Briscoe at briscoe@montrey.org or (831) 646 -2091\n\n\n\nThis
program takes place on Zoom\, or participants may join by phone.
Registration closes an hour before the program. The Zoom access information
will be sent to registered participants shortly before the program begins.
Use of video camera and level of participation is determined by each
 person.\n\n \n\nEvent Schedule\n\n\n	\n \n \n Time of
