Join us on the 2nd Thursday of each month as we explore a different genealogy topic with Historian and Librarian Kathy Nielsen.  This month’s topic will be Local Histories:  How can local libraries and historical societies help with your research?  It’s All in the Details…How Can Local Libraries and Historical Societies Help with Your Family History Research?  Local libraries and historical societies have resources that add context and background to your search for your ancestors. Discover the treasures that the Monterey Public Library and local organizations offer. Learn how to access resources in the public libraries and archives located where your family lived. Join Kathy Nielsen as she shares tips on how to search for your ancestors using these valuable resources.

Kathy Nielsen: Kathy Nielsen is a reference librarian and an educator. She is currently a popular genealogy speaker on the Monterey Peninsula. She has been featured on Lisa Louise Cooke’s weekly YouTube program, Elevenses. She is a co-founder of the Monterey County Genealogy Society’s special interest writing group, Off the Charts. Kathy incorporates her skills as a historian, storyteller, and librarian in her search for her family’s history.
