History Slam

Are you interested in Monterey County History or do you know someone who is? The Monterey Public Library, in partnership with the Western Flyer Foundation, the Cannery Row Foundation, and the Cannery Row Company, is excited to invite all historians and history buffs to the 2nd Annual Monterey County History Slam on April 10, 2021, from 10 am to 4 pm.

The event features 10-15 minute talks on the rich, hidden histories of Monterey. Hear about the porthole in Robinson Jeffers’ Hawk Tower; Joseph Campbell’s connection to Monterey and Star Wars. Learn more about Ed Ricketts, the ecology of Monterey Bay, local artists--as well as fresh perspectives on Flora Woods, the legendary Cannery Row Madame; the Chinese village at Point Alones; local Japanese American flower growers; and Tiburcio Vasquez: The Musical!

And MUCH MORE!
