United States Arsenal of Democracy in the Second World War

United States Arsenal of Democracy in the Second World War

In his December 29, 1940 Fireside Chat, President Franklin D. Roosevelt called for the United States to “send every ounce and every ton of munitions and supplies that we can possibly spare” for the fight against the “unholy alliance” of Germany, Italy, and Japan. The war was to be industrial, and the US was to be its “Arsenal of Democracy.” Join us or a discussion with a military historian about what that meant, for “The Law of Tonnage: The US Arsenal of Democracy in the Second World War.”
