The Financial Crime Intelligence Program at the Middlebury Institute presents Scam Us If You Can.
This series of talks will delve into how hackers and fraudsters exploit human psychology in carrying out imposter scams, mail and marketplace fraud, investment fraud, and romance fraud, and how AI is taking these crimes to a new level. Each session aims to equip you with the knowledge and tools to recognize and defend against these deceptive tactics, ensuring your financial and emotional security.

Fourth Workshop: How AI is Transforming Online Scams (Nov 15)
Digital fraudsters are always looking to stay one step ahead of their targets and often look to the use of cutting edge technology. AI is one of those technologies helping fraudsters conceal their true. In this session we will look at how AI is used romance scams, “pig butchering” (crypto confidence) scams, and "virtual kidnapping" scams. This session will be a first step in uncovering how AI is changing the landscape of digital fraud, and a lesson in how to recognize a scam attempt with the goal of keeping you and your community safe and secure.
