For PRIDE month, we celebrate, raise awareness and promote equality for the LGBTQ community. Come and join us at the library to watch the untold story of The Lavender Scare documentary narrated by Glenn Close. In 1953, thousands of people lost their jobs based on their sexual orientation when President Eisenhower declared them a security threat.The documentary film tells the story of a brave man, Frank Kamey, a Harvard-trained astronomer who became the first person to fight his dismissal. His bravery evolved into a fight for the rights of the LGBTQ community.
This program is free and open to all. The runtime is 75 minutes.
