Tonight we will journey through the Bandiagara Escarpment of Mali, West Africa. The escarpment is home to the Dogon people, one of the most ancient societies on earth. The Dogon believe they originated on a distant star and traveled to earth as aquatic creatures to create first man and return to their starry home at will. There's is one of the most complex cosmologies on earth. The Dogon are also master wood carvers whose work now resides in major museums.
