Diving on the California Coast

with diver and historian, Steve Rebuck

Monterey’s Magical History Tour presents: Diving on the California Coast, with former abalone diver and historian, Steve Rebuck and your host, Tim Thomas. The California abalone fishery is in the opinion of historianTim Thomas, the most important fishery in the history of California. It may not have been economically, but it sure was both historically and culturally!

Monterey's Magical History Tour has over the years done a few programs on the Monterey abalone fishery and the importance of the Japanese community. In this new program, Steve, who grew up and still lives in the San Luis Obispo area, will talk about the abalone fishery along the central coast, which is much different than Monterey. He will also discuss the abalone fishers and how they created a well-blended, multi-cultural abalone stew!

Both Tim and Steve will talk about their new book, Abalone Diving on the California Coast.
