Cannery Row Days Talk: The Long, Slow Death of Eddie Romero

Cannery Row Days Talk: The Long, Slow Death of Eddie Romero

John Steinbeck's romantic portrayal of a Monterey paisano in 'Tortilla Flat' brought cruel notoriety to the real-life character upon whom 'Pilon' was based. For Eddie Romero, the romance that Steinbeck conjured in Pilon didn't translate in the stark reality of raging alcoholism and low-level poverty of spirit.

Joe Livernois (Writer) will present The Long, Slow Death of Eddie Romero: What became of the Monterey paisano immortalized by John Steinbeck? in person at the Monterey Public Library, and will be available for questions afterward.

This talk will be presented in-person inside the Community Room at Monterey Public Library.
