Cannery Row Days Talk: Stirring the Pot: Working the Canneries, a Multicultural Stew

Cannery Row Days Talk: Stirring the Pot: Working the Canneries, a Multicultural Stew

The California sardine fishery was at one time the largest fishery of a single fish in the history of the United States and Monterey was the center of the universe for all things sardines! At its height, there were nineteen sardine canneries operating along the Monterey waterfront, employing hundreds of people from all over the world, a virtual multicultural stew. Who were these workers? This talk investigates those stories and how they shaped the entire Monterey Peninsula.

Tim Thomas will present Stirring the Pot: Working the Canneries, a Multicultural Stew on Zoom, and will be available for questions afterward.
