Before They Vanish: Travelogues with James Dorsey

Before They Vanish: Travelogues with James Dorsey

Explorer and award-winning author, James Michael Dorsey returns to the library to revive his “BEFORE THEY VANISH,” travel presentation series.

James has visited dozens of isolated cultures in the world’s most remote areas; many that have no written language. Through vivid digital photography and master storytelling, James will introduce you to people and places much of the world does not know exist. Each monthly presentation will take you inside at least two varied societies.

This month will take us to Ethiopia, The Omo Valley. The Omo Valley is one of the most remote places in Africa. No roads went there until 1964. The tribes that live there evolved with no stylistic or linguistic similarities to any other peoples in Africa.  Meet a tribe that lives in harmony with giant crocodiles, a gun culture that turns young children into gunslingers as soon as they can walk, and attend one of the most unusual and brutal wedding ceremonies on earth.

James will be selling and signing his books about these travels and looks forward to answering your questions about how our fellow humankind lives across this planet.

Please visit his website at https://www.jamesmichaeldorsey.com/ for more personal information.
